| Fontanelle |
Le Fontanelle is located in the spectacular countryside of the Orcia valley, which has been renowed since the end of the first millennium as important stage on the Via Francigena, the great medieval pilgrimage road from France to Rome.

Le Fontanelle was a ruined peasants' house when it was discovered by the Gonzi family, its current owners.
It attracted them not only because of its large size, but also because of the presence of water, which was almost a miracle for this valley.
They named the farmhouse Le Fontanelle, which means "little springs".
The Gonzi family has lived in the Orcia valley for over 50 years. Because they are enamoured of this area, they decided to devote their lives to farming and to improving the countryside of the valley. |

They have renovated other farmhouses, so the same attention to detail and all the lessons learned from previous renovations have been used in this last restoration, finished in 2003: original stone and bricks, terracotta flooring, antiques and Tuscan wood furniture.
In restoring the structure as a comfortable vacation house of exceptional character, the owners’ main aim was to respect the original features of the building.
Rooms with wood-beamed ceilings are well sized and open to the most beautiful views of the valley, with wheat fields, olive groves and cypress trees.
The Gonzi family respected the traditional structure of the farmhouse and kept the house divided into two independent units: the ground level, once the stables, which can accommodate ten people, and the top level, where the peasants used to live, which sleeps four more people.
As a result, Le Fontanelle is the perfect setting for family reunions or groups of friends looking for an “oasis” of tranquillity, surrounded by art and culture. |

The extensive lawn is mainly seeded with grass to maintain the open space of the valley and not to restrict the view around the farmhouse.
Terracotta pots with geraniums, wild roses and bushes of lavender and rosemary create a beautiful frame around the pool. The covered dining space with fireplace, pizza oven, barbeque, table and chairs will let guests enjoy unforgettable Tuscan sunsets. |
